First Annual

Youth Poultry 101

May 3, 2008

(Pre-registration is required
and program is full.
Please check again next year.)

Who should attend?

This program is designed for all youth 13 years of age and older and adults who enjoy teaching youth about poultry. It is designed as a next step for the older more advanced youth, and this is the reason that no youth under 13 years of age will be accepted. We have asked the presenters to include advanced topics in their presentations and plan to allow hands-on learning as much as possible.

Why attend?

Sessions will be conducted by Penn State poultry faculty, American Poultry Association judges, and other experts. This year's program will cover the following areas:

  • Selection and preparation of birds for show
  • Anatomy
  • Incubation
  • Breeding
  • Egg grading
  • College and career information

Detailed Program Schedule

Where

The program will be held at the University Park campus in State College. Most of the program will be in the ASI building. However, the afternoon program will reconvene at the Poultry Education and Research Center. Due to Bio security issues, if you have been around poultry prior to coming to this conference, please shower and change into clean clothes before leaving home.

Registration

The $12 registration fee covers all costs of instruction, parking, breaks, lunch, and conference T-shirt. Registrations are due by April 18, 2008. No registration will be accepted without payment or after April 18. Cancellations received prior to April 18 will be eligible for a full refund, but no refunds will be given after that date.
