  • Agriculture Network Information Center is a guide to quality agricultural information on the Internet as selected by the National Agricultural Library, Land-Grant Universities, and other institutions.


  • Be Ready from the Department of Homeland Security. Terrorists are working to obtain biological, chemical, nuclear and radiological weapons and the threat of an attack is very real. Here at the Department of Homeland Security, throughout the federal government, and at organizations across America we are working hard to strengthen our Nation's security. Whenever possible, we want to stop terrorist attacks before they happen. All Americans should begin a process of learning about potential threats so we are better prepared to react during an attack. While there is no way to predict what will happen, or what your personal circumstances will be, there are simple things you can do now to prepare yourself and your loved ones.


  • Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) The mission of CAST is to identify food and fiber, environmental, and other agricultural issues and to interpret related scientific research information for legislators, regulators, and the media for use in public policy decision making.


  • EPA Office of Pesticide Programs Site discusses pesticides and foods, how the government regulates pesticides, types of pesticides and health problems they may pose.


  • National Center for Biotechnology Information was established in 1988 as a national resource for molecular biology information, NCBI creates public databases, conducts research in computational biology, develops software tools for analyzing genome data, and disseminates biomedical information - all for the better understanding of molecular processes affecting human health and disease.

  • U.S. Bureau of the Census The pre-eminent collector and provider of timely, relevant, and quality data about the people and economy of the United States.


    • Helps American farmers and ranchers earn a good living
    • Helps bring running water to the homes of rural Americans
    • Manages our national forests
    • Protects our soil and water
    • Keeps foreign plant and animal diseases out of our country
    • Increase agricultural exports
    • Feeds hungry people, and provide nutritious meals for 25 million school children each day
    • Conducts research to improve agricultural practices and human nutrition
    • Improves food safety


  • USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) The Agricultural Marketing Service includes six commodity divisions Cotton, Dairy, Fruit and Vegetable, Livestock and Seed, Poultry, and Tobacco. The divisions employ specialists who provide standardization, grading and market news services for those commodities. They enforce such Federal Laws as the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act and the Federal Seed Act.

  • USDA-Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) provides leadership in ensuring the health and care of animals and plants, improving agricultural productivity and competitiveness, and contributing to the national economy and the public health.



  • APHIS - National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) The objective of the National Poultry Improvement Plan is to provide a cooperative Industry-State-Federal program through which new technology can be effectively applied to the improvement of poultry and poultry products throughout the country. The provisions of the Plan, developed jointly by industry members and State and Federal Officials, establish standards for the evaluation of poultry breeding stock and hatchery products with the respect to freedom from hatchery-disseminated diseases. Products conforming to specific standards are identified by authorized terms that are uniformly applicable in all parts of the country.



  • USDA-ARS Southeastern Poultry Research Lab Research is currently directed at two primary missions:
    • Preventing or reducing poultry disease losses due to impaired performance, increased mortality, or increased condemnations at slaughter.
    • Understanding the risks and reducing contamination of poultry products with potential human pathogens.


  • USDA-Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service In cooperation with our partners and customers, CSREES provides the focus to advance a global system of research, extension and higher education in the food and agricultural sciences and related environmental and human sciences to benefit people, communities, and the Nation.
  • CSREES programs increase and provide access to scientific knowledge; strengthen the capabilities of land-grant and other institutions in research, extension and higher education; increase access to and use of improved communication and network systems; and promote informed decisionmaking by producers, families, communities, and other customers.


  • United States Fish and Wildlife Service mission is to conserve, protect, and enhance fish and wildlife and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. Our major responsibilities are: migratory birds, endangered species, certain marine mammals, freshwater and anadromous fish, the National Wildlife Refuge System, wetlands, conserving habitat, and environmental contaminants.


  • United States Food and Drug Administration Center for Veterinary Medicine regulates the manufacture and distribution of drugs and feed additives intended for animals. These include animals from which human foods are derived, as well as, drugs and feed additives for pet (or companion) animals. CVM is responsible for regulating drugs, devices, and feed additives given to, or used on, over one hundred million companion animals, plus millions of poultry, cattle, swine, sheep, and minor animal species.
